NOFI VEE-SWEEP™:
The NOFI VEE-SWEEP increases the skimmer efficiency by a factor
of two or more. This is due primarily to the bottom net shaped like
a V.
Towards the Apex area of the sweep where a free-floating skimmer
is positioned it will recover oil in optimal concentrations. These
oil concentrations for quite obvious reasons will be much thicker
than in U-shaped and J-shaped boom systems.
It has been documented that a NOFI VEE-SWEEP can contain oil efficiently
in towing speeds up to 1,4 – 1,6 knots.
This is an increase of up to 60% compared with other systems. –
The US Coast Guard tested the sweep in the world’s largest
onshore test tank, OHMSETT, in 1992. Subsequent empirical tests
during NOFO’s oil-on-water tests in the North Sea in 1994
and 1995 confirmed the tank tests.
