This as a Buster only – no guide booms. The tests undertaken went so well that Port of Rotterdam decided to include the NOFI Current Buster in their new catamaran vessel. In very close and constructive co-operation with the shipyard, Scheepswerf Grave b.v. on the river Maas in Holland, we built the NOFI Current Buster for the new catamaran Oil Spill Response Vessel “OSR 31”. The vessel was handed over to the Port of Rotterdam on June 26th this year.

We participated very actively with Scheepswerf Grave in testing the system aboard the new vessel – among others finetuning the permanently inflated Current Buster suspended inside the hull and above water level. This means that the Current Buster is ready for instant mobilization in case of an oil spill incident in the Port of Rotterdam where the currents periodically make it impossible for conventional oil booms to contain oil. In the fast waters the Current Buster can contain oil in currents of 4 knots – unsurpassed by any other oil containment system!
