- by using NOFI Current Busters for nearshore protection. The drilling operations on the Nucuela field takes place very near the highly sensitive North Cape peninsula and its nearby fjord areas. With this background Norsk Hydro has paid extra attention to the need for effective oil spill response equipment in the harsh winter weather conditions topped by periodically strong currents. We are proud to have received orders for 4 ea. NOFI Current Busters 600®.
These NOFI Current Busters are operated by Central Finnmark IUA’s (Intermunicipal response organisation) fleet of smaller fishing vessels (up to 50’).The initial first tests were undertaken out of Honningsvaag (North Cape community). The exercise took place in strong winds and part darkness. However, the fishermen praised the Current Busters’ ease of towing and exceptional oil containment capabilities!
